| Designation: | U-343 MGa |
| Depositor: | Senner |
| Organism: | Homo sapiens (human) |
| Ethnicity: | caucasian |
| Gender: | Male |
| Tissue: | Brain |
| Morphology: | epithelial |
| Celltype: | glioblastoma |
| Growth Properties: | monolayer |
| Description: | Comparison of STR-data has revealed, that the STR-profile of U-343 MGa cells stored at CLS is identical to GOS-3 described by DSMZ, Braunschweig. We aim to clarify this problem as soon as possible. |
| Culture Medium: | Minimum essential medium Eagle with 2 mM L-glutamine and Earle's BSS adjusted to contain 1.5 g/L sodium bicarbonate, 0.1 mM non-essential amino acids, and 1.0 mM sodium pyruvate, 90%; fetal bovine serum, 10% |
| Subculturing: | Remove medium, rinse with fresh 0.025% trypsin solution, remove trypsin and let the culture sit at 37°C until the cells detach. Add fresh medium, aspirate and dispense into new flasks. Subculture every 3 to 5 days. When using Accutase for detachment, the cells will come off the substrate within 10min at 37°C. |
| Split Ratio: | A ratio of 1:2 to 1:5 is recommended |
| Fluid Renewal: | 2 to 3 times weekly |
| Freeze Medium: | CM-1 (CLS ∙ Cell Lines Service) |
| Sterility: | Tests for mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi were negative |
| Biosafety Level: | 1 |
| Tumorigenic: | yes, in nude mice |
