| Description: | The SW 1353 cell line was initiated by A. Leibovitz at the Scott and White Clinic, Temple, Texas in 1977 from a primary grade II chondrosarcoma of the right humerus obtained from a 72 year old female Caucasian. The initial culture medium was L-15 containing cortisone and insulin plus 10% fetal bovine serum and antibiotics. |

| Subculturing: | Remove medium, rinse with fresh 0.025% trypsin solution, remove trypsin and let the culture sit at 37°C until the cells detach. Add fresh medium, aspirate and dispense into new flasks. |
