| Description: | The TK6 cell line has been derived from the WIL-2 cell line. TK6 cells are heterozygous at the thymidine kinase (TK) locus, are resistant to thioguanine (hprt locus) and to ouabain (Na/K ATPase]. They are useful in quantitatively detecting forward mutation at 3 loci (resistance to trifluorothymidine (tk locus). |
| Culture Medium: | RPMI 1640 medium supplemented with 2 mM L-glutamine and 10% fetal bovine serum. |
| Subculturing: | Subculture by transferring an aliquot of the proliferating cell susension into new flasks containing fresh media. Maintain the cell concentration between 2 x 105 and 1 x 106 cells/ml. |
| Fluid Renewal: | Every 2 to 3 days (maintain the cell concentration between 2 x 105 and 1 x 106 cells/ml. |
| Freeze Medium: | CM-1 (CLS ∙ Cell Lines Service) |
| Sterility: | Tests for mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi were negative |
| Biosafety Level: | 1 |
